The concept of the U.S. government is pure; it was designed and intended to serve the citizenry. It might have morphed into something else, but the fundamentals are in still place to have republic for the people and by the people. We, of course, will always have to vigilantly monitor our government officials (who have threatened the democracy with greed, etc.), but the ideals and the ideas of the government as an entity have survived.
The capitalist free market, on the other hand, serves only the dollar. There are no pure intentions, only pure profit motive.
The question is, do we attempt to fix the government, or do we give our lives over to the capitalist machine?
I think you know my choice.
